Doug Below – Outdoor Writer & Video Producer

 

Biography

 

Doug Below, a Nationally known Outdoor Writer and Video Producer from Antigo Wisconsin, has a passion for harvesting trophy whitetails with archery equipment.  He has been a predator of the whitetail deer for the last 32 years.  His successful harvest of 32 Pope and Young class whitetails over the past 19 years has led to the publication of articles highlighting Doug’s bow hunting tactics, equipment choices, and work ethics.  Feature articles of Doug has appeared in magazines such as Deer and Deer Hunting, North American Whitetail, Petersons Bow Hunting, Sportsman’s Bow Hunting, The Bowhunter and Quality Whitetails magazines.  Doug harvested most of his whitetails in the big woods of northern Wisconsin.  He has also had success in Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. 

Doug is on the Mathews National and Easton/Beman USA Shooting Staff.  He is a Pro Staff member for New Archery Products, Wildlife Research Center, Natural Gear Camouflage, Rivers Edge Tree Stands, Montana Black Gold and Nikon Optics. Doug is also on Team Chevrolet sponsored by Parson’s of Antigo Wisconsin. 

As an Outdoor Writer, he has written for magazines such as Deer and Deer Hunting, Wisconsin Outdoor Journal, National Whitetail Hunters Journal, Mathews Bowhunting Whitetails, Advantage Hunting, Rub Lines Whitetail, Quality Whitetails, The Bowhunter, and Prime Times. 

 

A co-owner of Ghost Bucks Video Productions, Doug’s hunting footage appears on The Outdoor Channel with Deer and Deer Hunting Television.

Doug has been an Associate member of the Pope and Young Club since 1993.  He became an Associate member of the Boone and Crockett Club in 2002 after killing a World Class 19 point non-typical that netted 225 7/8 B&C.  Doug served on the Board of Director's for the North Central Wisconsin Quality Deer Management Association for 12 years.  He coordinated the Langlade County Hunters Against Hunger Program for 5 years.  Doug is a member of Wisconsin Buck and Bear, Wisconsin Bowhunters Association and the Antigo Bow Club.  Needless to say, he is very involved in the hunting industry.  
             
When he is not hunting, scouting or writing, Doug enjoys shooting in 3-D competition.  “3-D shooting helps me prepare for the actual hunt, by shooting at realistic targets at varying distances.  I am a firm believer in year round shooting.  It has certainly made me a better shooter and hunter,” said Doug.  He enjoys spending time with his wife Julia, and 16-year-old twins Beau and Britney.  Together they like to hunt, fish, camp and partake in several team sports.
